So you can enjoy your audiobooks all around the house. Whether you're cooking, crafting, or you just want the whole family to listen, it's a great way to bring the library into your home.

Can Alexa Play Libby Audiobooks?

Yes, you can stream Libby audiobooks to your Amazon Echo using Bluetooth. But you will not be able to do so using voice commands to Alexa.

For example, with Amazon Kindle or Audible subscription, we can simply say, "Alexa, play the audiobook The Alchemist," and Alexa takes care of it.

On the other hand, to listen to Libby audiobooks on Alexa, you need to use your Amazon Echo device as a Bluetooth speaker and manually open the Libby App to play the audiobooks.

With this method, you can not stop or start your audiobook listening session using commands to Alexa.

For example, you can not use commands like "Alexa, play/pause the audiobook on Libby.

How To Listen To Libby Audiobooks On Amazon Alexa?

We're going to keep things simple and connect your Amazon Echo smart speaker to Libby using Bluetooth.

You'll need your mobile device with the Libby app installed and your Amazon Echo speaker.

Step 1: Turn on Bluetooth on Your Mobile Device and Connect Your Echo Device

The first step is to need to make sure that our mobile device, which also has Libby installed, has its Bluetooth turned on and is ready to connect to our Echo.

Go to your device's settings and look for the Bluetooth section. You'll see if it's turned on and discoverable.

Under "My Devices" in Bluetooth settings, you should see your Echo device connected to it.

Note: If you're having trouble with Bluetooth on your device, you can try a few things to fix it:

1) Turn off your Bluetooth.
2) Completely shut down and restart your device.
3) You can also try resetting your network settings.

Step 2: Open the Amazon App and Tap on 'Devices' Icon

Launch the Amazon app on your mobile device. Make sure you're signed in with the Amazon account linked to your Echo. If not, sign in before proceeding.

Tap on the "Devices" icon in the lower right corner of the app. Then, select "Echo and Devices" to see the Echo devices associated with your account.

Step 3: Select Your Echo Device

Choose the correct Echo device from the list.

Step 4: Access Bluetooth Devices

Look for the "Bluetooth Devices" option and tap on it.

Step 5: Pair Your Mobile Device

If your mobile device is listed, select it and tap "Connect Device." If it's not listed, tap "Pair a New Device" and find your device from there.

Then you select it and tap Connect your mobile device to your Echo.

Step 6: Open the Libby App and Play the Audiobook You Want To Listen

Return to the Libby app. You can now select your audiobook and tap the play button to enjoy it through your Echo speakers.

That's it! You're all set to listen to your audiobook without needing to talk to your smart speaker directly; it's all done through the Libby app.

Connecting Libby with Sonos Speakers

You can also connect Libby with Sonos speakers, which is a new feature. Here's what you need:

  1. Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your Sonos speaker is on the same Wi-Fi network as your mobile device.
  2. Apps Installed: You'll need both the Libby and Sonos apps on your mobile device.
  3. Sonos Account: Sign in to your Sonos account.
  4. Adding a Service: In the Sonos app, tap "Settings" in the lower right corner. Then, select "Services and Voice."
  5. Adding Libby: Tap "Add a Service" and search for "Libby." Select it and tap "Add to Sonos."
  6. Authorization: Sign in with your Libby account. You may need to enter a setup code from Libby on your mobile device's browser.
  7. Name Your Libby Account: You can name your Libby account in Sonos.

Once the setup is complete, you can find Libby in the Sonos app. Simply tap and start listening to your audiobooks.
